The Orthodox Nationalist is a weekly program hosted by historian and writer Fr. Matthew Raphael Johnson, Ph.D. The show airs on Thursdays at 9pm, Eastern U.S. time.

Matthew’s program brings a lively discussion of political theory and religious ideas, with a focus on the central role of Russian and Ukrainian nationalism, and the Eastern Orthodox faith, in challenging the New World Order.

About Matthew Raphael Johnson

Matt is originally from Union County, New Jersey. He received his master’s degree at the University of Missouri, writing his thesis on social alienation in the works of Hegel and Nietzsche. He went on to complete his Ph.D. at the University of Nebraska, writing his dissertation on Michael Oakeshott’s critique of modernity.

A well known expert on Russian history, Matt has written numerous articles that have been published in major journals in several languages. He is also author of several books, including: Sobornosti: Essays on the Old Faith; Heavenly Serbia and the Medieval Idea; Orthodoxy, Autocracy, Nationality: Lectures on Medieval Russia; The Ancient Orthodox Tradition in Russian Literature; The Third Rome: Holy Russia, Tsarism and Orthodoxy.

At present, Matt is an independent writer and a priest of the Greek Orthodox Old Calendarist Church. His present research centers around small-state nationalism in Serbia, Ireland and Ukraine, and its relationship to the agrarian life. Matt can be contacted at fr_raphael
