10:30 PM: Skeptoid with Brian Dunning

Skeptoid is a weekly science podcast dedicated to furthering knowledge by blasting away the widespread pseudosciences that infect popular culture.

Each weekly episode focuses on a single phenomenon — an urban legend, a paranormal claim, alternative therapy, or something just plain stupid — that you may have heard of and that you might believe in. Skeptoid attempts to expose the folly of belief in non-evidence based phenomena, and more importantly, explains the factual scientific reality.

Technical Support Q&As and Feedback

May 14, 2009

This page is a work in progress. Please read the FAQs and try the solution before adding a comment. (There is not much here yet, but more Q&As will be added as we go along.)

Q: How can I listen to show archives?

A: On every show archive web page, you will see three icons (similar to the image shown here) providing no fewer than three ways of listening to the archive:

Archive options
  1. By downloading the MP3 and then playing it on your computer. Click the graphic labeled “DOWNLOAD” to download the file.
  2. By subscribing to the VoR podcast. Click the the graphic labeled “PODAST” to subscribe.
  3. By playing the built-in archive Flash player. Click the triangular play button on the graphic circled in red.

Q: I am having a problem with the built-in archive Flash player. What should I do?

A: When you play the built-in archive Flash player, the player should look like the image shown here. Notice the greenish blue bar gradually filling the middle rectangle. This bar indicates the buffering of the audio in the Flash player.

Archive Flash player

The Flash player is a convenient feature, but some people have reported problems. The Flash player may fail to buffer the entire audio. If the greenish blue bar stops growing, then there is something causing the Internet connection to fail — temporary heavy traffic, poor bandwidth, or local computer CPU limitations are potential causes.

It’s advisable to update to the most recent version of your preferred browser and to the most recent version of the Flash plugin. However, if you are still repeatedly experiencing problems, then you should probably download the MP3 or subscribe to Podcast if you have that capability.

For one solid hour, with no guests, no callers and nothing up my sleeves, I will rant, rave and carry on concerning where America is going in the next four years. Expect specifics and detailed discussions of America’s coming collapse into anarchy, Depression II, Racial Civil War, World War III, the balkanization of America, biological pandemics and New America, with stopovers in total financial chaos and, even, cannibalism (the other other white meat) as we wind down to the end of 2012.

Everyone is looking forward to Ed’s new show on VoR.  You don’t want to miss it!

About Ed Steele

Edgar J. Steele

Edgar Steele is an author and trial lawyer who has tried cases throughout the West Coast, being admitted to California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, several Federal District and special courts and the U.S. Supreme Court.

He graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in 1967, then served four years in the U.S. Coast Guard, first aboard ships, then as the Commanding Officer of an East China Sea island LORAN Station during the Viet Nam era.

Edgar graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with an MBA in 1973, then worked for several years in a succession of financial executive positions for corporations, including the Controllership of two companies.

He graduated from the UCLA School of Law in 1982, worked for a couple of years for a small law firm in the San Francisco Bay Area, then struck off on his own.

Today, his law practice is noteworthy for cases that test the limits of constitutional law on behalf of politically-incorrect clients.

Edgar publishes a weekly commentary via the Internet, interspersing observations on the state of American society and politics with reports about aspects of the higher-profile cases he is handling. Free subscriptions are available at

Though Edgar speaks infrequently in public, he has appeared on virtually every national TV network news program and been interviewed repeatedly for Today, Good Morning America, The Early Show, Fox News, Dateline, NBC Nightly News, Court TV (which devoted a full week of broadcasting to one of Edgar’s trials recently), Geraldo and CNN, as well as countless local television news programs and radio talk shows throughout America, in connection with both his writing and the high-profile cases he has handled.

Edgar’s recent book, “Defensive Racism,” an unapologetic examination of racial differences, can be previewed and ordered at

He makes his home in Northern Idaho with his wife of 24 years on a working horse ranch, his three children having moved out and on.

Edgar wants it known that he, himself, is exceedingly politically incorrect.
