The Orthodox Nationalist (formerly, The Orthodox Medievalist) is a weekly program hosted by historian and writer Fr. Matthew Raphael Johnson, Ph.D. The show runs on Thursdays, 9pm, Eastern U.S. time.
Matthew’s program brings a lively discussion of political theory and religious ideas, with a focus on the central role of Russian and Ukrainian nationalism, and the Eastern Orthodox faith, in challenging the New World Order.
About Matthew Raphael Johnson

Matt is originally from Union County, New Jersey. He received his master’s degree at the University of Missouri, writing his thesis on social alienation in the works of Hegel and Nietzsche. He went on to complete his Ph.D. at the University of Nebraska, writing his dissertation on Michael Oakeshott’s critique of modernity. His first job out of college was working with the Barnes Review. He is a former professor of history at Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
A well known expert on Russian history, Matt has written numerous articles that have been published in major journals in several languages. He is also author of several books, including: Lectures on Medieval Russia, Ethnicity, State, and Utopia, The Manifestation of Holiness, Selected Essays on Russian Literature, and The Third Rome: Holy Russia, Tsarism, and Orthodoxy. He is also an editor at the Barnes Review and American Free Press.
At present, Matt is an independent writer and a priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. His research concerns the political and social ideas of the Old Believers and the medieval non-possessors in Russia and Ukraine.
