Jamie Kelso discovers that we can all STILL buy “Fightin’ Whities” t-shirts, sweats, coffee mugs, and mouse pads. This surprise turns up in his live March 21, 2011 broadcast. It all started in 2002 when the Indians on an on-campus (intramural) basketball team at the University of Northern Colorado decided that they would “shame” us “racist” White folks by changing the name of their team from “The Native Pride” to “The Fightin’ Whities”. To rub it in even more the Indians started selling team t-shirts featuring a quintessentially-White man in tie and collar as their logo. And what was the reaction? White folks across America went wild with enthusiasm to buy these t-shirts and wear them with while beaming with pride. So much money was raised, in the hundreds of thousands, that the Indians had to create yet another scholarship not available to any White people on the campus! See where the story has gone in today’s show.
