About Eberhard Fuhr

Eberhard Fuhr immigrated to the US from Germany as a child. He was arrested at his high school in 1943 at age 17 as a perceived security risk. He was detained, along with his family, in an internment camp in Crystal City, Texas during WWII. Since his retirement, he travels the country speaking about the US internment of Germans.

Information and photos about Eberhard can be found at the German American Internee Coalition; about US internment of Germans in general, at the Freedom of Information Times.

    Pathetic

Carolyn, this anti-German propaganda film was the third most downloaded item in the Feature Films section at the Web Archive last week (over 3000 downloads). Perhaps you could upload a public domain revisionist video to that site, or at least post a link to one.

A great American story worthy of inclusion in all US History textbooks. Congratulations and blessings. to both of you.

A reminder of courage personified in both Mr. Eberhard Fuhr and Carolyn Yeager. A story that needs to be told and retold. A primary witness story of Mr. Fuhr; and after a lifetime and career with justice and injustice issues both in the American South and this global world…I cannot understate the importance of this kind of program and venue.

I strongly identify with friend, Eberhard, but my courage would have failed in confronting the daunting tasks which young Eberhard and his family faced.

His Lutheran school background, and his high school athletic background, is almost identical to mind…although a few years later…in Bristol, Connecticut, I came on the scene. The Lutheran connection is something that I must explore…it is vital, profound, and almost radioactive in helping many Lutherans get a better grip on what Christian faith is all about. I would be delighted to explore this further on your program or any venue, for that matter.

I have had the privilege reading much of Eberhard’s witness story, and have had the additional privilege of meeting him at Valparaiso University, in January, 2010, where I was serving as a Martin Luther King Speaker dealing with both justice and injustice issues.

It is my view that we are brothers bonded by our Lutheran Christian commitments, our American German heritage, and our love in telling the true story of America at its best…and this is what it is…and my hope and prayer is that President Obama would intervene and acknowledge that the study commissions under the Carter and Ford administrations were correct and objective when they answered the FDR’s Executive order of February, l942, as one of racism and community hysteria…similar to the recognition according to the Japanese Americans.

My wife, Janet, has already indicated an interest in coming with me to the August 28, meeting in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, in the gathering of this historical American German witness group.

Thanks again for telling this great American story, and if I can assist you in any way in dramatizing this special story, please let me know, Carolyn Yeager, for I do give dramatic, and historical role plays with such as Abe Lincoln, Frederick Douglas, and Martin Luther.

    Truth and Reason,

There is nothing that can be done about stuff like this. We need to promote our own sites.

I don’t want to sign up for that site and I know nothing about uploading videos. Perhaps you could do what you are suggesting. Your efforts would be greatly appreciated. Please post your video here when you get it up on that site. Thanks.
